We invite you to join us on our fun and exciting UTV Tour through the cattle pasture managed by authentic Paniolo, into the vast old growth ʻŌhiʻa forest’s rugged terrain and back again to the civilization of South Kona – Hawaiʻi Island.

OPENING SOON:  Hiking Tours into two fenced conservation forest enclosure. Uncover native plants, rare tree species, birdwatch (listen to bird songs), traverse the varied geographical formations including a 1926 lava flow. Get to feel up close and personal with our unique living forest.  Experience how it is being protected for generations to come!  2.5-3.5hr, non technical, mid level difficulty.

We offer Guided UTV Forest Tours through cattle pastures into old-growth ʻōhiʻa forest, along with upcoming immersive conservation hikes in protected forest enclosures.
What makes the UTV tour special?
It’s a thrilling off-road adventure with interpretive stops showcasing native forest restoration zones, cultural stories, wildlife observation points, and conservation efforts.
Where are the hiking tours held and what should I expect?
Future hikes will take place in Martin Forest and the Loulu Enclosure. These non-technical mid-level hikes are 1.5 to 3 hours long and allow close encounters with rare endemic trees along ancient lava terrain.
How do the tours support conservation?
Five percent of proceeds from our conservation hikes go directly to the Hoʻomau Ranch Conservancy to fund restoration, preservation, and education.
Who leads the tours?
Tours are led by conservation-minded guides who share cultural and ecological insights while ensuring guests remain safe and on designated paths.
What type of terrain and scenery do the tours cover?
You’ll traverse cattle pastures, rugged forest trails, lava-formed landscapes, and view rare forests, massive reservoirs, and native ecosystems unique to South Kona.

Yes they are. UTV tours offer an accessible adventure ride ideal for most, while hikes are mid-level and non-technical, making them great for nature lovers of varying ages and fitness.
Where is Hoʻomau Ranch located?
We are located on the slopes of Mauna Loa in South Kona, between mile markers 86 and 88 on Old Mamalahoa Highway, approximately 1.5 hours from Kailua-Kona Airport.
What should I bring with me?
Bring sturdy footwear, sun protection, water, and a camera. UTV riders need to be able to sit securely amid rugged terrain. Hiking gear like poles and light rain protection is helpful.
